Karianne Haarklau, Silje Natlandsmyr and Marthe Brun chose to research the film adaptions of novels because they like to read books and watch movies themselves. Their report was titled:  "Filmatisering av romaner"

Does film adaptions of novels lead to increased love of reading?, the students ask themselves. Contrary to what they expected, the students found that the participants in their study read few books, and that the film adaptions of novels do not significantly cause the participants (high school students) to want to read more. Clear gender differences were also found in their study; girls read more than boys and are generally more positive about reading books than boys are.

The prize of NOK 15,000 was awarded by Minister of Education Kristin Halvorsen, and winner of the Holberg's Prize, Ian Hacking, at Bergen Cathedral School, Wednesday, November 25, 2009.
